Praying starts at “home”.
First, I need to pray for the cat in the room, making noise,
and the people next to me,
and for their memories and hopes,
and for communities around me,
and my loved ones,
but starting here and then going out.
I need to discover what’s in my heart,
what fears, hopes, longings reside,
calming my false self, listening deeply to my true self,
listening deeply to the place where my heart meets God’s heart.
It’s like being somewhere,
and no matter where you are going to go,
you have to start on the road or path in front of you.
That’s always first, always next,
and then you go on from there.
